Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) encompasses a variety of tools designed to help individuals communicate independently across different environments. AAC options can include:
Gestures: Non-verbal methods of communication.
Low-Tech Solutions: Tools like picture communication boards and visual aids.
Mid-Tech Devices: Such as "talking buttons" that produce speech.
High-Tech Solutions: Advanced speech-generating devices.
AAC serves two purposes: it is considered augmentative when it supplements existing speech and alternative when it replaces speech altogether.

If your child is a "late talker," non-speaking, Autistic, Down Syndrome, or struggles with communication, we’re here to help. If there’s a gap between your child's receptive language (understanding) and expressive language (output), they may benefit from Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
Our Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) can assess your child's needs and trial a variety of AAC devices, ranging from low-tech options to advanced speech-generating devices. If appropriate, she will complete a comprehensive evaluation and provide step-by-step guidance for families on how to secure funding through insurance.

The Orton-Gillingham approach empowers educators to develop an individualized, structured, multisensory plan to teach reading and vocabulary skills. Orton-Gillingham is a step-by-step learning process involving letters and sounds that encourages students to advance upon each smaller manageable skill learned throughout the process. It was the first approach to use explicit, direct, sequential, systematic, multi-sensory instruction to teach reading, which is effective for all students and essential for teaching students with dyslexia.

Most people learn language from their natural surroundings. By offering in-home services or sessions within your community, our Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) can seamlessly integrate the individual's family, caregivers, and daily routines into the intervention process. This approach enhances skill carryover and generalization, ensuring that the techniques learned during treatment are effectively applied in everyday life.
-
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy in place. If an emergency arises, please notify your clinician as soon as possible via text or phone call. Cancellations made after the 24-hour window will incur a fee of 50% of your session rate.
